Laura Siegemund impressed by the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

Ever since she won a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet as the winner of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2017, Laura Siegemund has been a big fan of sports cars from Zuffenhausen. The player from Porsche Team Germany was therefore immediately thrilled when the opportunity arose to drive the new all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo S on the circuit of the Porsche Experience Center Hockenheimring.

"I always find it exciting to experience something new without knowing what to expect," says the Stuttgart native in a video that is available in the Porsche press database and in the newsroom. “I don't have that in tennis. I always know what's coming and can prepare myself for it. I was all the more looking forward to the day at the Porsche Experience Center. It was a great experience."

Analogous to the “pilot program” offered to all Porsche fans, the day for Laura Siegemund in the heart of the legendary Hockenheimring started with a briefing by a professional instructor. She taught her the most important basics that need to be observed on the road and on the race track: How do I control speed? When do I brake in order to get into the corner optimally? When do I accelerate again? The program shows all participants how to get the most out of their Porsche in order to be rewarded with uncompromising driving pleasure. After the theoretical service, Laura Siegemund was allowed to drive a 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet and explore the 2.8 km long, very demanding handling route - always in the slipstream of the instructor in front, who showed her the ideal line.

"I already knew the power of driving straight from my 911, so I wasn't really surprised," says Laura Siegemund, who is contesting the final of the German Ladies' Series presented by Porsche in Versmold this week. “However, the cornering behavior was new to me. I was absolutely amazed at how fast you can drive into the corners with your car and how safe and cool it is. ”

From 0 to 100 in 2.8 seconds

After this special warm-up, the tennis star climbed into the new Taycan Turbo S, the first fully electric sports car that heralded the start of a new era with its powerful system performance and range. The highlight of the day was on the program after a few laps behind the instructor: accelerating on the straight. The Taycan Turbo S takes just 2.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h, and experiencing this at the wheel releases emotions that even a professional sportswoman like Laura Siegemund got upset about. "That's insane. You turn up the pound, but you hear nothing, and suddenly the car shuts off like schnitzel, ”she is totally enthusiastic afterwards. Still a little out of breath, she summarizes her intensive encounter with the electric athlete in a short and easy-to-understand way: "That really makes you want."

The Porsche Experience Center Hockenheimring wants to make the brand tangible for drivers and fans and accelerate emotions. The approximately 170,000 square meter area in the heart of the race track houses a customer experience center, a handling track, driving dynamics areas and an off-road course. If you hear the enthusiastic comments from Laura Siegemund, she has taken so much drive from her visit that she can probably also benefit from it in the final of the German Ladies' Series presented by Porsche.
