Laver Cup 2021: Team Europe is complete
Team Europe for the Laver Cup 2021 is complete. After Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer were absent due to injuries, some well-known athletes joined the Europeans.

The injuries of Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer, they not only hurt the Austrian-Swiss tennis fans, in a certain way they of course also hurt all Europeans. Specifically, with regard to the competition with Team World at the Laver Cup, in which the two have established themselves as the driving forces for Team Europe in recent years. In the case of Federer, they held a special position as an organizer.
Now there is no question that with the two most recent announcements of the two, a start in the show fight also falls into the water. However, the team led by Björn Borg immediately set about finding an adequate replacement and was able to publish a well-known team just hours after Dominic Thiem was announced, which is now the official starting lineup for the Laver Cup.
Many debutants in 2021
Three newcomers were therefore presented on the official website of the Laver Cup on Wednesday: Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and the Norwegian Casper Ruud. The latter two will serve in the show fight for the first time, the Greek Tsitsipas, on the other hand, has already gained experience at the Laver Cup as does Alexander Zverev, who will also start for Team Europe.
This year, the Europeans are led by world number two Daniil Medvedev, who is also making his debut in the show fight. Matteo Berrettini finally completes the European team as another debutant. For Team World, however, Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Diego Schwartzman have so far been confirmed. The Laver Cup will take place in Boston from September 24th to 26th - as scheduled - in front of a full house.
