The fourth edition of the Laver Cup is history and once again the title went to the European team. Given the continued dominance of Björn Borg's troupe, one might think that Team World could use the support of a three-time Grand Slam winner and former world number one in the next year. Too bad that Great Britain is undoubtedly part of Europe and Andy Murray was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

The announcement of the field of participants for the fifth edition of the team competition is still a long way off, but Murray expressed interest in potential participation on the sidelines of the ATP 250 tournament in San Diego at least once. "I like the event very much. I saw it and I enjoyed it this weekend. It's a good show for our sport," said the 34-year-old.

In the coming year, the event will also take place in London - a city where Murray has won two Wimbledon trophies and an Olympic gold medal. From the point of view of the fans, an appearance by the Briton would certainly be a highlight, in addition, the current world ranking is 109. known for thriving in team competitions: in 2015, Murray led his country almost single-handedly to the Davis Cup title.

This is probably one of the reasons why the former industry leader would also be attracted to an appearance at the Laver Cup: "If my ranking allows me to be selected, I will carefully consider participating and representing Europe." Should Murray not be placed well enough - three of the six players will be selected based on their world ranking position after the French Open - he could still be called up by Borg as "captain's pick".
