Felix Auger-Aliassime became the first player to be nominated for this year's Laver Cup by Team World Captain John McEnroe. The Canadian made a significant contribution to his team's premiere triumph last year - including a win over Novak Djokovic - and will try to defend the title in Vancouver from September 22nd to 24th.

"We won in London but it wasn't easy. It will make a big difference to have the crowd behind us," said the local Canadian hero. "I really hope that the fans will come in large numbers to experience the Laver Cup first hand." According to Auger-Aliassime, he is looking forward to being there for the third time.

"We have some great players to consider for Team World. Starting with Felix, who helped us win in London. He had a great season last year and was on a winning streak after the Laver Cup. It's great to to have him back," said McEnroe, who will continue to oversee Team World in 2023.

His counterpart on the European side will once again be Björn Borg. "We will have a lot to do this year because John and his team will be elated after their win in London and will have the home field advantage. But we will do everything we can to win the Laver Cup again," said the Swede, who is still no nomination announced.
