Roger Federer is absolutely happy with the way his exit went

Contrary to one or the other politician who claims the same of himself, Roger Federer really did everything right last weekend. The Laver Cup at the O2 Arena in London provided the perfect (local) setting, with those involved taking the form of "King Roger" himself, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie and Matteo Berrettini the rest.

A little spoilsport was Team World, which neither granted Federer and Nadal the double victory nor Team Europe overall the triumph of the international competition - but hey, in the end it's also a show tournament and the better one should win.

"My retirement couldn't have been more perfect"

That's exactly how the 20-time Grand Slam champion saw it himself, who gave a wonderfully fun, but at the same time thoroughly reflected message via Instagram a few days later: "We all hope for an end like in a fairy tale. That's how it happened mine: I lost my last singles, I lost my last doubles, I lost my last team competition, I lost my voice during the week, I lost my job."

"But still, my retirement couldn't have been more perfect and I'm so glad how it all turned out. So don't think too much about what the perfect ending could be, yours will always be special in its own way... " Advice to take to heart.
