Team Europe can only fight for the Laver Cup title again in 2021.

The Laver Cup will not take place in 2020. After the postponement of the French Open, an appointment deadline between the Laver Cup and the Grand Slam in Paris was inevitable, now the organizers of the fight "Europe against the rest of the world" have taken the consequences and have canceled the hosting of the Laver Cup for this year. The fourth edition of the Laver Cup will only take place in 2021.

"We know that our passionate fans will be disappointed to have to wait another year for the Laver Cup in Boston, but this is the responsible approach required by the emerging calendar conflicts," said Tony Godsick, Chairman of the Laver Cup, in a first statement.

It has already been announced to give clarity to fans and players, the organizers explain. "Most importantly, all of our thoughts are with the large number of people around the world who are affected by COVID-19 and the incredibly selfless people who work on the front lines and bring many of us to safety," according to the organizers of the Laver Cup in the broadcast.

"It is unfortunate that the Laver Cup has to be postponed by a year, but at the moment it is the right thing for everyone involved," said Roger Federer in a first reaction. At least the new date for the Laver Cup 2021 is already set, it will be from 24th to 26th September 2021.

Further information follows.
