The Japanese gold hope Naomi Osaka is still sovereign at the Olympic Games. The four-time Grand Slam winner in tennis, who lit the Olympic flame on Friday, clearly prevailed on Monday in the second round 6: 3, 6: 2 against Wimbledon quarter-finalist Viktoria Golubic from Switzerland. Osaka's round of 16 opponents determine Mihaela Buzarnescu (Romania) and Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic).
Osaka is contesting the first tournament in her home country after an almost two-month break, which she had put in as a result of her noisy withdrawal from the French Open. Osaka is particularly strong on hard court
