Novak Djokovic is also unstoppable in Tokyo

Novak Djokovic is unstoppable. Well, the industry leader went into the quarter-finals with Kei Nishikori with a record of 16-2 wins. And the Japanese no longer exudes the playful charm of the earlier years. Nevertheless: 6: 2 and 6: 0. That has to give the competition something to think about, including Alexander Zverev, the possible semi-final opponent Djokovics. However, Zverev first has to get Jeremy Chardy out of the way.

Nishikori was the last remaining single hope of the Japanese. Naomi Osaka had won two matches, but then dropped out against Marketa Vondrousova. Nishikori, in turn, opened his medal hunt with a remarkable win over Andrey Rublev. But it wasn't nearly enough against the world's best player.

Khachanov in the semifinals

With this success Novak Djokovic is only missing two more victories on the fourth of five titles as part of his mission "Golden Slam". He wants to get the last one in New York City at the US Open.

In the lower half of the tableau, Karen Khachanov prevailed against Ugo Humbert with 7: 6 (4), 4: 6 and 6: 3. A purely Russian semi-final would be possible. Daniil Medvedev tried hard with Pablo Carreno Busta. The result is still a long time coming.
