Olympia 2021: Andy Murray is allowed to run again in Tokyo
Two-time gold medalist Andy Murray can dream of more Olympic honors. The British professional tennis player, currently only 119th in the world rankings after serious hip injuries, will be part of Team GB at the games in Tokyo (July 23rd to August 8th). Murray (34) competes in singles and doubles with Joe Salisbury.

The three-time Grand Slam champion triumphed over Roger Federer (Switzerland) in his "home games" in London in the final at Wimbledon in 2012. Four years later in Rio he defeated the Argentine Juan Martin del Potro. In 2018 he was plagued by injuries, Murray was about to end his career.
In Tokyo, some prominent names are missing from the Olympic tennis tournament. In addition to the Grand Slam record winner Rafael Nadal (Spain), US Open Champion Dominic Thiem (Austria) and the Canadian Denis Shapovalov have canceled their participation. Murray's old rivals Federer and Novak Djokovic (Serbia) are at the start.
