“The tournament is part of the Porsche tradition and very popular with fans and players alike. Because of the effects of the corona virus, a Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April is no longer a realistic option, ”says Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG. “As a company, we have a social responsibility. The cancellation is therefore due to the health and well-being of all people. "

“We would have loved to offer tennis fans world-class tennis in the Porsche Arena again this year. Unfortunately, the special circumstances do not allow this, ”says Markus Günthardt, tournament director of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. "For us, the health of players, ball children, spectators and all employees is a top priority. Our focus is now on the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2021. "

Petra Kvitova would have come to Stuttgart as defending champion - the Czech won the Anett Kontaveit final in 2019. The last German winner was Laura Siegemund, who had won the title in her home country in 2017. Before that, Angelique Kerber had won the title twice in the Porsche Arena.
