Porsche Tennis Grand Prix creates a multimedia world of experience for fans

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix takes a big step into the multimedia future. Since the 44th edition of the traditional tournament in the Stuttgart Porsche Arena has to be held without a spectator due to the corona pandemic, the offer for tennis fans on television and the Internet is being expanded with great effort and innovative ideas.

For the first time, every match will be broadcast live on the tournament website. On social media and other digital channels of the tournament, all those interested will also have the opportunity to experience the world-class tournament, which will be held from April 17th to 25th, from very different perspectives via new interactive offers.

“With Porsche and its partners, we have been making great efforts for months to ensure that the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix can also take place in these times. With this we want to spread confidence and take a step back into normality with the people ”, says tournament director Markus Günthardt. The promises of numerous top players, including Ashleigh Barty as number 1 in the world and Naomi Osaka as the current Australian Open winner, strengthen the organizers in their optimism.

However, due to the currently still dynamic pandemic situation, it has now been decided to hold the tournament without visitors this year. "After consulting the local authorities and the WTA players' association, we had to make this decision with a heavy heart, because the safety of everyone involved is our top priority," said Markus Günthardt. Nobody can reliably predict that the pandemic situation will be fundamentally better by April and that major events will then be possible in the hall with spectators. “With this decision, we are giving our partners and everyone involved planning security. We also didn't want to put off our loyal regular audience any longer. "

SWR, Eurosport, DAZN broadcast

The tennis fans should still get their money's worth. With a greatly expanded multimedia offering to compensate for the on-site experience in the Porsche Arena that was not possible this time, they should still be able to take part in the tournament as extensively as possible. In addition to increased live broadcasts of the most important matches on SWR, Eurosport and DAZN, there are daily summaries on the news channel n-tv. In addition, all individual games with commentary on porsche-tennis.com will be streamed on the Internet. Internationally, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is broadcast in more than 100 countries.

Also new this year are expanded interactive offers for fans. You can be your own TV director by choosing from different camera positions for the online broadcast and thereby experience tennis from completely new, unfamiliar perspectives. Especially interesting for tennis fans around the world is the even more intensive international reporting on the social media channels of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix this time. They will also see a former Stuttgart winner again: Porsche brand ambassador Julia Görges, who won the tournament in 2011 and thus achieved the breakthrough, speaks to her former colleagues and also allows many interesting glimpses behind the scenes.

“We came up with a lot so that our fans don't have to be left out at this special Porsche Tennis Grand Prix,” said Markus Günthardt. "Our diverse offers enable a virtual, but nevertheless very extensive and emotional tournament experience."
