It was the dream final in Stuttgart's Porsche Arena, between world number 1 (Swiatek) and number 2 (Sabalenka). /

And at the same time: the repetition of last year's final. With the hope of the spectators (and Sabalenka) for a small change: in 2022 Swiatek had won quite quickly 6: 2, 6: 2.

In the beginning it was actually extremely competitive: Sabalenka with her elemental force against Swiatek's "Heavy Spin" - and her fantastic footwork, especially on sand. Everything stayed in line up to 3:3, but then Swiatek pulled away, made almost no more mistakes and unpacked fantastic angles.

Sabalenka also suffered a break at the start of the second half and Swiatek briefly seemed to pull away. One could almost feel sorry for Sabalenka, because she tried, but often in vain and in the end with too much brute force. She still got close and stayed in the game, but without being able to equalize. In the end, Swiatek served to zero and the battered Sabalenka sought refuge in her box.

Sabalenka is still waiting for her first victory in Stuttgart - and her first Porsche, which she would have loved to win . In 2021 she had already been in the final, when she lost three sets to Ashleigh Barty.
