Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: Siegemund and Friedsam move into the round of 16, out for Middendorf
Laura Siegemund and Anna-Lena Friedsam are in the round of 16 of the Porsche Grand Prix. However, youngster Julia Middendorf is eliminated.

Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) has reached the round of 16 at the WTA tournament in Stuttgart, where she meets world number one Ashleigh Barty. In the German duel against Mona Barthel (Neumünster) Siegemund won 6: 4, 3: 6 and 6: 1. Siegemund received a wildcard for the Porsche Grand Prix and will play against Barty on Wednesday. For the Australian top player, it is the first match in the tournament.
On Tuesday afternoon, Anna-Lena Friedsam also made it through to the round of 16 with ease. The 27-year-old from Neuwied prevailed 6: 2 and 6: 0 against the Norwegian Ulrikke Eikeri. It was Friedsam's first win on the WTA tour since the US Open in late August. In March Friedsam was eliminated in the first round in Bogota, Colombia. She is now dealing with Aryna Sabalenka or Shuai Zhang.
Australian Open semi-finalist already eliminated
Julia Middendorf (Vechta), on the other hand, failed in her first WTA tournament in the first round. The 18-year-old talent was defeated by Estonian Anett Kontaveit 2: 6 and 3: 6. Middendorf had advanced into the main field through qualification.
In the first match of the day, Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Australian Open semi-finalist Karolina Muchova 4: 6, 6: 2 and 6: 3.
