Iga Swiatek comes to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix as the defending champion

At the top of the entry list published by the WTA is the sovereign world number one and defending champion Iga Swiatek. The Pole won the French Open and the US Open in 2022 and a total of six WTA tournaments. This year she won in Doha. Aryna Sabalenka, her opponent in the final last year in the Porsche Arena and current number 2 in the world, celebrated her biggest career success to date by winning the Australian Open in January. With the Wimbledon winner and this year's Australian Open finalist Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan/No. 7), the third current Grand Slam winner is also in the starting field.

The winner of the WTA Finals 2022, Caroline Garcia (France/No. 4) and the current Olympic champion Belinda Bencic (Switzerland/No. 9) will also be back in the Porsche Arena. Other top 10 players at the traditional Stuttgart tournament are last year's Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur (Tunisia/No. 5), Coco Gauff (USA/No. 6), Daria Kasatkina (No. 8) and Maria Sakkari (Greece/No. 10).

"We want to present the best players in the world"

“It is our aim to present the best players in the world to our audience in the Porsche Arena. That is the DNA of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix,” says tournament director Markus Günthardt about the exclusive starting field. Anke Huber, Sport Director, adds: “Having so many top stars with us is a huge compliment for our tournament and the spectators in the Porsche Arena. The players are showing us that they like coming to Stuttgart.

Wildcards for Maria, Niemeier and Raducanu

Thanks to a wild card, three players are in the main draw of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: Tatjana Maria, Jule Niemeier and Emma Raducanu. The currently best German players Tatjana Maria and Jule Niemeier fought an exciting quarter-final match in Wimbledon in 2022 and ensured a German tennis fairy tale at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. As a former Grand Slam winner (US Open 2021), Porsche brand ambassador Emma Raducanu (Great Britain) receives a so-called top 20 wildcard.
