Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: The 2010s - Sharapova triple and four German victories

After long years of waiting, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix was once again dominated by the German players in the past decade. Three different local heroines entered the list of winners in Stuttgart. This had only been announced by Angelique Kerber , who won the title as a long-time top ten player in 2015 (in the final against Caroline Wozniacki ) as well as the following year with a final win against Laura Siegemund.
However, Siegemund was not discouraged by this defeat - and simply won the next edition in 2017. The final against Kristina Mladenovic will probably be remembered as one of the most emotional in the history of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Either just before or just behind the sensational triumph of Julia Görges in 2011 when the German won her biggest career title with an overwhelming urge to move forward. By the way, also in the final against Wozniacki.

Twice the Czech Republic at the end of the decade
But Maria Sharapova also left a lasting impression. The Porsche brand ambassador managed the title hat trick between 2012 and 2014, defeating Victoria Azarenka, Na Li and Ana Ivanovic in the respective endgames. The decade had started with Justine Henin's victory, which had already been successful in Stuttgart in 2007.
The two latest editions of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix were dedicated to the Czech superstars: In 2018 Karolina Pliskova won the final against the American surprise woman Coco Vandeweghe. And almost a year ago, Petra Kvitova, two-time Wimbledon winner in Stuttgart, prevailed in the final against Anett Kontaveit.
