As the Spanish website marca.com reports , Nadal took part in the Balearic Under-30 Championship - and almost won the title. After day one he led the overall standings with 70 strokes, but with 80 strokes on day two he had to let Federico Paez pass him and ended up second.

Rafa's uncle Miguel Angel Nadal, a former Spanish national football player, also came 15th.

Nadal has been known as a strong golfer for years and could have started a promising career on the golf course with handicap 1.5. Last year he finished fifth at the Balearic Amateur Championships.

With the golfer José Maria Olazabal, he also organizes an annual Pro / Am tournament in Son Servera, where money is raised for good causes. Most recently, the proceeds benefited the flood victims in Llevant, Majorca.
