The tennis year 2021 is bewitched for Andy Murray. After the Scot had already missed the first Grand Slam of the year due to a positive COVID-19 test, the former world number one will not take part in the French Open. That came from reports on the short message service Twitter.
Accordingly, Murray still did not feel completely comfortable in his two appearances in the doubles of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome and therefore decided to skip the Grand Slam in the heart of Paris and instead prepare for the lawn season.
Murray hopes for grass season
As befits his status, this is the absolute season highlight for Murray, who celebrated two of his three Grand Slam titles at Wimbledon. The traditional tournament in London will be held again in 2021 after a break of almost two years after the tournament fell victim to the corona virus in the previous year.
At the French Open, Murray was able to play his way into the final once, in 2016 the Scot was defeated there by the Serb Novak Djokovic in four sets.
