In contrast to last year, the 2021 season will bring a "regular" Race to Turin again. And the race to fill the ATP Finals also has a few new faces to offer at the moment.

Not that Novak Djokovic books a flight to London for November this year out of habit: As is well known, the ATP Finals will be held in Turin from this season, for at least five editions. And that Djokovic will be there at the end of the season is almost certain after the first few weeks of the tennis year. The industry leader has collected 2,140 meters to date - even if it should stay at this level, Djokovic should hope for a starting place.

Daniil Medvedev has also put himself in a comfortable starting position: After the flawless appearance at the ATP Cup with the Russian team, the run followed through to the final of the Australian Open. Should a curse weigh on the winners of the ATP Finals - the reigning champion Medvedev seems to have this well under control.

Thiem has some catching up to do, Zverev in the top eight

And the Russians in general: As of now, Andrey Rublev (not surprisingly) and Aslan Karatsev (very surprisingly) would also have a place. However, after Medvedev everything is in limbo, from position three ( Stefanos Tsitsipas with 835 points) there are only three-digit points in the rating. A good performance at a 500 event or at the upcoming ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami helps to make remarkable jumps in the race.

What three local heroes can also hope for: Matteo Berrettini started the season well and was unable to compete in the round of 16 of the Australian Open against Stefanos Tsitsipas due to an injury. Berrettini, who already participated in London in 2019, is sixth in the race. And not far behind are two other Italians, Fabio Fognini (ninth) and Jannik Sinner (14th).

Dominic Thiem has some catching up to do : Austria's best player has so far collected 230 points and is in 17th position. Alexander Zverev, on the other hand, would have a place in Turin as seventh.
