"Who can play under these conditions? Only the young, rich people." Toni Nadal is not very enthusiastic about the new transition tour. At the beginning of the year, 1500 players lost their ranking due to the reform. The idea was that the professionals should first collect ITF points on the transition tour and then make the transition to the ATP or WTA tour.

"The goal of the international tennis association should be to promote the sport and make it accessible to all players, but the new rules are preventing players from doing so," explains Toni Nadal. "What happens to the people who study and want to become a professional in the future? In my opinion you have to change the rules again," continues the Mallorcan.

The former coach of Rafael Nadal, second in the world rankings, is not the first prominent name to speak out against the Transition Tour. Among other things, Wawrinka coach Magnus Norman also criticized the changes. In addition, the ÖTV and DTB were extremely critical of the reform.
