US Open: Djokovic and Federer present, Thiem and Nadal on Tuesday

The schedule of the first two days at the US Open has been determined: While Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will start on Monday, the opening matches of Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem will follow on Tuesday. For the women there is a duel between Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova on the first day. Defending champion Naomi Osaka intervenes on the second day.

Two of the big three men start on the first day of the US Open. Novak Djokovic (ATP 1) will play against the Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (ATP 76) at Arthur Ashe Stadium as soon as the opening game begins at 6 p.m. (CEST) on the center court between Ashleigh Barty (WTA 2) and Zarina Diyas (WTA 77 ) has ended. In the night session (from 1 a.m.) the games between Serena Williams (WTA 8) and Maria Sharapova (WTA 87) and Roger Federer (ATP 3) against Sumit Nagal (WTA 190) appear at the same place. /

The matches of defending champion Naomi Osaka (WTA 1) against Anna Blinkova (WTA 93), followed by Dominic Thiem (ATP 4) against Italian Thomas Fabbiano (ATP 87), will start on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Arthur Ashe. Rafael Nadal (ATP 2) opens the night session against John Millman (ATP 61).

From a German perspective, there are four games on the first day. Angelique Kerber (WTA 14) meets Kristina Mladenovic (WTA 53) in the second match on the grand stand. Philipp Kohlschreiber (ATP 72) plays ninth against Lucas Pouille (ATP 26). Dominik Köpfer (ATP 113) and Laura Siegemund (WTA 90) also play on the outdoor courts. On Tuesday there will be eight games with German participation. Alexander Zverev (ATP 6) then plays against Radu Albot (ATP 40), Jan-Lennard Struff (ATP 35) against Casper Ruud (ATP 54) and Julia Görges (WTA 27) against Natalia Vikhlyantseva (WTA 98). Andrea Petkovic (WTA 89), Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (ATP 253), Tobias Kamke (ATP 230), Mona Barthel (WTA 102) and Tatjana Maria (WTA 79) also start the tournament.

In addition to Federer, Stan Wawrinka (ATP 24) as well as women Viktorija Golubic (WTA 73) and Timea Bacsinszky (WTA 88) will start from Switzerland on the first day. Henri Laaksonen (ATP 120) for men and Belinda Bencic (WTA 13) and Jil Teichmann (WTA 50) then play on the second day.
