Thiem is number five in the third major of the year, Novak had earned a place in the main field with three convincing qualifications. Dominic Thiem was drawn into the quarter by Rafael Nadal, so there could be a repeat of the French Open final in the quarterfinals. Querrey is a very dangerous player, has already defeated Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in Wimbledon. In direct comparison, however, Dominic Thiem leads with 3: 1 victories, most recently the two players saw each other in 2018 in the Wiener Stadthalle - with the better end for the Austrian. The task for Dennis Novak is not much easier with Marton Fucsovics.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic starts against Philipp Kohlschreiber. Roger Federer, placed second thanks to the special rating system at Wimbledon, faces Lloyd Harris. And could still face Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals. Which has led the entire castling, at least in these areas of the seed list, to absurdity. Nadal's first opponent will be Yuichi Sugita. In lap two Nick Kyrgios could be waiting for the Spaniard.
Alexander Zverev opened against Jiri Vesely, could play against Kevin Anderson in the quarter-finals. Stefanos Tsitsipas has Thomas Fabbiano in front of his chest and would meet Djokovic in the last eight.
