Roger Federer was happy to take his tenth success in Halle / Westphalia with him for several reasons: First, the Swiss with title number 102 has moved even closer to record holder Jimmy Connors (stops at 109). Then Federer has been the second player after Rafael Nadal to win a tournament ten or more times since the final win against David Goffin on Sunday.
And, not unimportant for Federer himself, who even emphasized this fact in Halle: The eight-time Wimbledon champion will now be in second place in the third Grand Slam tournament of the year due to the special arithmetic. And thus ahead of Rafael Nadal, who is second in the ATP charts before Federer. Officially, the organizers in Wimbledon will not announce this until Wednesday.
However, special achievements on turf are particularly rewarded, which is why Kevin Anderson, who was inferior in three sets in the 2018 final Novak Djokovic, contrary to the current world rankings, in which the native South African is only ranked eighth, as number four ahead of Dominic Thiem in the Wimbledon draw will be entered.
