Argentina's World Cup title yesterday naturally delighted the Argentinian players, regardless of whether they are still active or retired. But tennis greats from other countries also celebrated Lionel Messi and his team.

Juan Martin del Potro - before the start of the final, mind you

Juan Martin del Potro may have said goodbye to the ATP Tour this year, but when it comes to charisma, DelPo is certainly still number one among Argentine male tennis professionals. Especially when he's wearing the national shirt like he did on Sunday night, before he and at least one mate saw Argentina win the final against France.

Of course, Diego Schwartzman didn't hold back either. Schwartzman was in Qatar at the start of the tournament, supporting his team from the stands. However, he was no longer in the stadium when the final shot was fired. which did not spoil his joy.

Fabio Fognini, who came out as a big supporter of Argentina and, yes, especially Diego Maradona, was very comfortable in Doha.

Gabriela Sabatini has long since escaped from the spheres of the active tennis world. Which of course did not detract from their joy.

Casper Ruud had bet on the right horse. And even if the Norwegian had to tremble a lot in between: In the end, this grand final finally went according to Casper's wishes (not like the finals in Roland Garros, at the US Open or the ATP Finals).

Oh, yes: back to Juan Martin del Potro. He knew early on who would be the man of the hour in mid-December 2022.
