Clijsters, 37, is currently serving for her New York Empire team and has already clinched her second win in the second game - against none other than Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin . Clijsters won 5-3 against the American and dominated above all with their serve. "There is a reason why she returned to professional tennis," said Luke Jensen, the New York team's coach. Clijsters also brought her team with them. /

The Belgian had already convinced at her first appearance, here she won against Bernarda Pera.

Amusing: Clijsters and Kenin already knew each other - in 2005 Clijsters gave the then 6-year-olds an insight into the tennis world in Miami.

Two comebacks later ...

At that time Clijsters was still in "career number 1". In 2007, she resigned to make her first comeback in 2009 with the surprise win at the US Open. Two more Grand Slam titles followed, again in Flushing Meadows 2008 and at the Australian Open 2011. Previously, she had "only" won a major title at the US Open 2005.

Cijsters then resigned again in 2012, making her second comeback in 2020 - as a mother of three - and showed good tennis despite two defeats against Garbine Muguruza and Johanna Konta.

Lisicki wins in doubles

Sabine Lisicki also has reason to celebrate. After many injuries, the Berliner is only in 595th place in the world tennis rankings, currently she is also on the road as part of World Team Tennis in the USA. And successful in doubles: with Kveta Peschke she also controlled points for New York Empire thanks to her 5: 4 victory, in the end there was a 25: 17 victory over the Philadelphia Freedoms.
