WTA Doha: Angelique Kerber threatens to meet Jennifer Brady
Angelique Kerbercould meet Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady in round two of the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Doha.

Despite some rejections, for example by Simona Halep or Ashleigh Barty , the field of participants in the WTA Tour 500 tournament is impressive: Elina Svitolina leads the seeding list ahead of Karolina Pliskova , followed by Aryna Sabalenka and Petra Kvitova . The strongest player in the field could, however, be number seven: Jennifer Brady, who reached the final of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time at the Australian Open a few days ago. The opening task was not easy for Brady with Anett Kontaveit.
Angelique Kerber got off better: The German number one starts against the Turkish Cagla Buyukakcay, who was given a wildcard by the organizers. Should Kerber and Brady win, they'll meet on round two.
Where there could be another big game: Aryna Sabalenka, already the winner in Abu Dhabi this year, is waiting for the winner of the game between Veronika Kudermetova and Garbine Muguruza. The Spaniard was the player who could have slowed Naomi Osaka at the Australian Open. Muguruza did not manage to use one of her two match points against the eventual winner.
