WTA Linz: Bertens new number one after Kvitova cancellation
The WTA tournament "Upper Austria Ladies Linz 2019" got a new number one at the last moment: The Dutch Kiki Bertens is the new top player of the tournament after Petra Kvitova's injury-related cancellation.

The current number eight in the world lost today in the semi-finals of the China Open to Ashley Barty after a match ball and immediately comes to the "Upper Austria Ladies Linz." Bertens received the WTA's Top 20 Wildcard.
The other two wildcards for the main competition go to the two Austrians Barbara Haas and Julia Grabher.
In addition, top players like Kirsten Flipkens, Cooi Gauff and Shelby Rogers want to make the leap into the main field on Sunday and Monday. The qualifications were awarded to the two Austrians Mira Antonitsch and Melanie Klaffner, the German Anna-Lena Friedsam and the winner of the Wild Card Challenge (presented by Transdanubia Kühllogistik), the 17-year-old Vorarlberg girl Emily Meyer.
The draw on Friday afternoon promises some exciting games at the start of the tournament.
