WTA Linz: Halep, Collins, Riske reach the quarter-finals
The 2019 Wimbledon winner, Simona Halep , reached the quarter-finals at the WTA Tour 250 tournament in Linz. The two Americans Alison Riske and Danielle Collins are also ahead.

Successful start for Simona Halep in the Upper Austrian Ladies Linz: The Romanian seeded in second place defeated the Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich 7: 5 and 6: 3 despite a short sag in the first set. Halep will face either the Italian Jasmine Paolini or the Chinese Sasai Zheng in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
Earlier in the afternoon, two US-Americans could safely qualify for the round of eight: Alison Riske won against Alizé Cornet 6-4 and 6-4 and plays in the quarterfinals either against tournament favorite and US Open winner Emma Raducanu or the Chinese Xinyu Wang.
Danielle Collins, ranked third in Linz, defeated Belgian Gretje Minnen 6: 1 and 6: 2 and is now playing against her compatriot Allison van Uytwanck.
