Cori Gauff is in the quarter-finals in Rome

Sabalenka has been the dominant player on the WTA tour alongside Ashliegh Barty over the past few weeks. After losing to the Australian industry leader in the final in Stuttgart, Sabalenka returned the favor to Barty in Madrid last Saturday. However, the woman from Belarus had bigger problems against Guaff in Ostrava in autumn 2020. This time Cori Gauff did not give up her leadership anymore.

In the quarter-finals, Gauff is now waiting for the winner of the game between Barty and Veronika Kudermetova. The Russian is also having a strong season and won the title in Charleston.

And a second US-American besides Gauff qualified for the quarter-finals in Rome: Jessica Pegula defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova after Naomi Osaka and plays either against Nadia Podoroska or Petra Martic in the round of eight.
