Angelique Kerber gets the perfect preparation for the French Open at the WTA tournament in Strasbourg

Former world number one Angelique Kerber has reached the final in Strasbourg and is in the final of a WTA tournament for the first time in eleven months. The 34-year-old from Kiel benefited from the task of French Oceane Dodin in the semi-finals during the dress rehearsal for the French Open, which begins on Sunday.

Kerber led 7: 6 (2), 1: 0 in a previously tight match when Dodin, who was apparently in poor health, ended the game. On Saturday, Kerber will fight Kaja Juvan for the 13th WTA title of her career. The Slovenian surprisingly defeated the Czech Karolina Pliskova, herself former number one in the world, in the semifinals, 6:2, 7:5.

The three-time Grand Slam winner Kerber was last in a final in June 2021 when she won the tournament in Bad Homburg on grass. Her last final on clay was more than six years ago: in April 2016 she won against Laura Siegemund in Stuttgart.

Here the single tableau from Strasbourg.
