After the round of 16 at the Australian Open, Alexander Zverev will return to the tour next week: the third in the world rankings accepted a wildcard for the ATP 250 tournament in Montpellier. The organizers announced this on Thursday.
Zverev has good memories of the indoor tournament in France: in 2017, the native of Hamburg won the title in Montpellier. Zverev is one of the big favorites again this year, as he will start as number one in the tournament. He faces competition from Roberto Bautista Agut and Gael Monfils, among others.
Australian Open quarterfinalist Felix Auger-Aliassime canceled his start in Montpellier. The Canadian was defeated by the reigning US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in a gripping five-set battle on Wednesday .
