If he's already making his comeback in Australia, then Novak Djokovic obviously wants to enjoy it to the fullest. Because Djokovic, who leads the tableau in singles at the first of two ATP Tour 250 tournaments in Adelaide, also named for the doubles competition. Alongside Vasek Pospisil, with whom he founded the Professional Tennis Players Association in autumn 2020, Djokovic starts against Tomislav Brkic and Gonzalo Escobar.

The names of the world's best doubles players in 2022 are entered at the top of the tableau: Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupksi start with a bye, then it's either against Mackenzie McDonald and Marcelo Melo or the local favorites Thanasi Kokkinakis and Jordan Thompson. Last year's French Open champions are number two: Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer. The two are also Djokovic/Pospisil's potential second-round opponents.

Pleasing from an Austrian point of view: Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler, sensational winners of the Erste Bank Open in the Wiener Stadthalle a few weeks ago, are also in the main draw. And they can certainly calculate chances against Pedro Cachin and Daniel Elahi Galan.

Incidentally, Novak Djokovic is not the only full-time single player who also tries his hand at pair skating: It is well known that Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov like to double together. Denis Shapovalov and Sebastian Korda or Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego also got together in Adelaide.
