Joel Schwärzler has advanced to the quarterfinals at his home tournament in Mauthausen. The 18-year-old Austrian beat Martin Landaluce 6:4 and 6:2 in the round of 16. The number one in the junior world rankings will now face Dimitar Kuzmanov, who defeated Lukas Neumayer 2:6, 6:2 and 6:0.

Gerald Melzer was another Austrian who had reason to celebrate on Thursday. The 33-year-old beat the tournament's number two, Román Andrés Burruchaga, 6:4 and 6:4 in the round of 16. Melzer will face Jozef Kovalik in the quarterfinals.
Filip Misolic had already reached the quarter-finals on Wednesday .
