300 points for the loser, only 250 points for the winner? Well, good: Carlos Alcaraz, who lost a high-class final against Lorenzo Musetti in three sets on Sunday, was also involved in a 500 event in Hamburg, while Casper Ruud in Gstaad scored the maximum number of points with the championship. It can only be good for both players for the annual ranking: Alcaraz overtook Stefanos Tsitsipas and is second behind Rafael Nadal. With currently 4,120 points, the Spaniard will serve for the first time at the ATP Finals in Turin.
And probably got company from Casper Ruud, who had already sniffed the final air last year. Ruud holds fourth at 3,315 points, that should be enough. Also qualified at the moment: Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev and Félix Auger-Aliassime. Novak Djokovic still has to do more - which will not be easy for the Serb in view of the impending summer lull, at least in the coming weeks.
The regular world rankings have not brought any changes at the top, Medvedev leads ahead of Zverev and Nadal. Hamburg winner Musetti is in 31st place, a new career high. And Dominic Thiem, who failed in Gstaad in the semi-finals at Matteo Berrettini, jumped 75 positions and is currently in 199th place.
