ATP Astana: Pütz, Krawietz, Mies eliminated
The German double aces Tim Pütz, Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies were eliminated from the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Astana.

Pütz went into the tournament in Kazakhstan as a favorite with partner Michael Venus. Already in the first round the two struggled against Santiago Gonzalez and the Polish veteran Lukasz Kubot, in the quarterfinals on Thursday they lost 3:6 and 4:6 against the two Frenchmen Adrian Mannarino and Fabrice Martin.
Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies were much closer to winning against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. But finally lost with 6:3, 4:6 and 8:10.
In the Race to Turin, this is a setback for the two best couples with German participation: Pütz/Venus are eighth in the annual ranking, "KraMies" are three positions behind. However, Wimbledon champions Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell are behind the Germans. And due to their victory on Church Road, they are definitely qualified for Turin if they make it into the top 20 pairs in the race.
