Federer , who did not have to contest the quarter-final against Stan Wawrinka due to a back injury to his compatriot, put up well against Tsitsipas and took the 3-2 from the Greek. The Maestro acted without any problems with their own service anyway - sentence one went to Swiss with 6: 4.

Federer made in the second round where he had stopped in sentence one and broke Tsitsipas to 1-0. Only at the score of 5: 4 was the Greek a breakball, the 38-year-old defended this, however, and little later turned his first match point for 6: 4 and 6: 4-success.

In the final, Federer gets to deal with Alex de Minaur. The Australian defeated Reilly Opelka in three tiebreak sets. Federer and de Minaur have never played against each other.
