The surprise was great when Karen Khachanov made his biggest career triumph in early November 2018. But then defeated the Russian Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem and in the final even industry leader Novak Djokovic. In turn, he had prevailed in an epic semi-final against Roger Federer.
Khachanov prevented the fifth success of Djokovic in Paris-Bercy, the Serb is also with four triumphs record holder. Roger Federer could only get the title on the Seine, 2011 in the final against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The name Rafael Nadal is missing completely in the winners lists. And an appearance of the Spanish matador was also in 2019 until shortly before the draw not fixed. Most recently Nadal had canceled his start at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai due to wrist pain. But in the 2019er tableau Nadal is represented as number two, he meets after a bye either on Adrian Mannarino or a qualifier.
Roger Federer awaits the winner of the match between Radu Albot and Nikoloz Basilashvili, Dominic Thiem starts either against Milos Raonic or a qualifier. Alexander Zverev finally meets the winner of the match between Fernando Verdasco and Borna Coric.

For Alexander Zverev in Paris is still the final qualification for the ATP final in London. Dominic Thiem has his place as well as Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas sure.
