ATP Challenger: Rodionov succeeds in defending his title, Ofner loses attrition

Jurij Rodionov defended his title

Jurij Rodionov successfully defended his title at the ATP Challenger 100 event in Biel: The 23-year-old from Lower Austria benefited from the injury-related resignation of his opponent Liam Broady at the beginning of the second set. Rodionov won the first round 6:3.

Rodionov thus clinched his sixth title on the Challenger Tour and will find himself at position 126 in the world rankings on Monday.

On the other hand, there was no happy ending for Sebastian Ofner at the Challenger 75 tournament in Zadar: The 26-year-old Styrian had to beat the Italian Alessandro Giannessi 4: 6, 7: 5 and 6: 7 (6) after more than three hours of play give. Bitter: After being 4-0 down in the third set, Ofner even found a match point in the tie-break, but didn't know how to use it.

All in all, Ofner was able to look forward to a successful week in the Croatian coastal town. With rank 121 he will reach a new career high in the coming week.
