Thiem was behind defending champion Facundo Bagnis 3: 6, 2: 1 when the rain started, shortly afterwards the game was moved to Friday - the prospects for the evening were too bad. The game is scheduled to resume at 11:30 a.m.
How has Thiem fared so far? You can read it here in the live ticker.
Until then, however, things had been going well for the two other Austrian participants. Lukas Neumayer, via wildcard in the main draw, eliminated the top seeded Arthur Rinderknech 7:5, 6:3. Afterwards, Maximilian Neuchrist won a real thriller - he beat Roberto Carballes Baena, who was four seeded, 6:7 (5), 6:3 and 7:6 (12). And is now waiting... possibly for Dominic Thiem.
Things also went well in doubles: Alexander Erler/Lucas Miedler won 6:2, 6:0 against Jiri Lehecka/Dalibor Svrcina.
