Unlike in his second round encounter against Ricardas Berankis, Djokovic got off to a dream start against Sandgren and immediately took the serve from the American. After another break to 5: 2, the Serb certainly served to win the first round.
In the second set Djokovic also managed a quick break, which was enough for him to fix the 6: 2 and 6: 4 success after a little more than 85 minutes. Overall, the 33-year-old performed significantly better than the day before, and his neck no longer seemed to cause him any problems.
In the quarter-finals, Djokovic will now meet Jan-Lennard Struff, who had qualified for the round of eight with a win over David Goffin a few hours before the industry leader .
