$ 15 million in prize money and up to 750 points for the ATP World Ranking List will be available from January 3, 2020 onwards. No wonder that the captains of Austria, Thomas Muster, and Germany, Boris Becker, again emphasized the importance of this new team competition at the ATP Finals in London.

The German team has caught with Brisbane the venue on which the Davis Cup team under captain Michael Kohlmann defeated the Australians in early 2018: Brisbane. And the hosts will be opponents of the Germans in early 2020, plus Greece and Canada. We took a closer look at the potential match-ups of Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff, the two top players. In doubles, Andreas Mies and Kevin Krawietz are expected.

Australia, Alex de Minaur: Zverev leads 4-0

Zverev and de Minaur have met four times so far, but only the first game was close: just at that Davis Cup meeting in Brisbane, when the German already had a break in the fifth set. Most recently, they met in Acapulco in 2019 and Zverev won 6: 4 and 6: 4.

Australia, Nick Kyrgios: Struff has a 1: 1 record

Again, there was the premiere in the Davis Cup 2018, Kyrgios won easily. Struff returned the favor this year in Round One of the ATP Masters 1000 Tournament in Madrid.

Greece, Stefanos Tsitsipas: Zverev is back with 1: 4

Zverev lost to Tsitsipas at the ATP Finals in London - and that was extremely smooth. Before that, there were already meetings in Beijing and Madrid this year, both went to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Zverev's only win dates from the tournament in Washington 2018. The second Greek player, Mikhail Pervolarakis, plays in the US college system. And defeated Jack Sock this year at the Challenger level. Jan-Lennard Struff has not met Pervolarakis yet.

Canada, Denis Shapovalov: Zverev leads 3-1

Basically, Zverev had rather few problems with Shapovalov, defeating the local hero in the semi-finals on the way to the title in Montreál in 2017. However, most recently in Paris-Bercy, under the very special circumstances of Court 2, the Canadian was able to prevail for the first time. Jan-Lennard Struff and Félix Auger-Aliassime will meet for the first time in Brisbane.
