As soon as the Davis Cup 2021 is dry, the next team competition is already on the horizon: from January 1st, 2022, the third edition of the ATP Cup will take place in Sydney. And with the exception of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer (and in the case of the Maestro, the Swiss team too), all of the top players will also start. So also Novak Djokovic , about whose vaccination status and thus appearing in Australia there was a certain lack of clarity until recently. Serbia was drawn in Group A with Norway, Chile and Spain. The top duel will most likely be Djokovic againstCasper Ruud .

In Group B, Dominic Thiem's comeback should go on at the ATP level. And that will be pretty steep: Austria will play against Russia with Daniil Medvedev , Italy with Matteo Berrettini (if he has already recovered from his abdominal muscle injury) and host Australia. Russia and Italy contested the final of the latest ATP Cup at the beginning of 2021, with the better end for Medvedev and Co. number two behind Thiem will be Dennis Novak, Lucas Miedler, Philipp Oswald and Oliver Marach are also nominated for the Austrian team.

Zverev against Norrie, also called Tsitsipas

Germany with Alexander Zverev got it off better. It's against Canada again, then against Great Britain and the USA. Although Zverev has not always been able to convince in the previous editions of the ATP Cup (but afterwards at the Australian Open), he should be favored against Félix Auger-Aliassime and Cameron Norrie as well as against the number one in the USA, Taylor Fritz. Jan-Lennard Struff is Germany's second single player in the team tournament, Yannick Hanfmann could also play. In doubles, the successful Davis Cup fighters Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz are on the entry list.

The field of 16 is completed with Group D, in which Greece (apparently with Stefanos Tsitsipas ) meets Poland, Argentina and Georgia. There is still a question mark behind the appearance of Tsitsipas: The Greek number one recently had to undergo an operation on the elbow.

Here is the group classification for the ATP Cup 2022

Group a Serbia Norway Chile Spain
Group B Russia Italy Austria Australia
Group C Germany Great Britain Canada United States
Group D Greece Poland Argentina Poland
