Doha remains a good place for Roberto Bautista Agut: The Spaniard had won his last title on the ATP tour here in 2019, and now Bautista Agut followed suit. With a 6:3 and 6:4 after a playing time of 85 minutes, the 33-year-old veteran dethroned defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili. Bautista Agut now holds ten championships, all in the 250 category with the exception of Dubai 2018.

On the way to the title, Bautista Agut had shown an outstanding match, especially against Andy Murray , leaving the three-time major winner only one game win. After that, things went almost as well against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Bautista Agut won 6-1 and 6-1. He only had to stretch himself in the semifinals - but defeated Karen Khachanov 7:5 in the third set.

Next week, Bautista Agut and Basilashvili will continue in Dubai. The Georgian opens against Félix Auger-Aliassime , Bautista Agut has to play against Arthur Rinderknech. And could meet Novak Djokovic in his comeback in the quarterfinals.
