ATP Finals: Novak Djokovic after a fight in the final in Turin
Novak Djokovic is in the final of the ATP Finals 2022 in Turin. The Serbian record champion defeated Taylor Fritz in a close match 7:6 (5) and 7:6 (6).

The requirements before the first semifinals at the ATP Finals 2022 were clear: Novak Djokovic had won all five previous encounters against Taylor Fritz, mostly without problems. However: In the last - meaningless - group game in Turin against Daniil Medvedev, Djokovic seemed physically attacked and just dragged himself over the full distance.
Would Fritz be able to exploit any weakness in the 21-time Grand Slam champion?
At first everything seemed to be going as expected. Novak Djokovic made the first break to make it 3-2, but immediately gave up his serve. A tie break had to decide, Djokovic won this with a formidable forehand shot down the line.
Fritz cannot reserve a sentence
The second set began with a break from Fritz, Djokovic had previously had his fitness trainer provide him with fresh drinks. Fritz was able to keep the lead up to 5:4, then he had a set ball on his racket - but the backhand landed in the net and not in the open field. Djokovic managed the rebreak.
Again a tiebreak had to make the decision. Djokovic quickly led 2-0 after a mini break, Fritz was able to draw level again. After a gigantic rally, which Fritz won 5: 5, Djokovic got his first match point with a humorless attack. But he couldn't use it with a backhand error. The second chance came after a playing time of 113 minutes. And then Fritz put a forehand out.
