The ATP Finals mark the end of the season for men

In 2020 everything will be a little different - this also applies to the ATP Finals in London. In contrast to normal, not only do the points scored this year flow into the "Battle for London", instead the best tournament result of the past two years counts. Since the same system is used for the world rankings, the official ATP charts and the "Battle for London" are the same.

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev are fixed in England's capital, but Roger Federer, who is also qualified, will not take part in the ATP Finals this year due to a protracted knee injury. So there are still two tickets left for a real battle to break out over the coming weeks.

Rublev and Schwartzman on course

Andrey Rublev is currently in pole position. After winning the tournament in St. Petersburg, he is exactly 249 points ahead of his first rival Diego Schwartzman. The Argentine, who is on duty in Cologne this week, wants to qualify for the year-end finale for the first time in 2020. However, the French Open semi-finalist could only add points to a tournament victory at the ATP tournament in Vienna next week after reaching the previous year's final.

Schwartzman is currently 105 points ahead of Matteo Berrettini. However, the Italian, who made his debut in London last year, still falls 200 points out of the ranking - he got this with a victory over Dominic Thiem in the ATP Finals group stage. If you subtract these 200 points from Berrettini, he is only 15 points ahead of Gael Monfils, who is currently two places short of qualifying.

Just behind the French are Denis Shapovalov and Roberto Bautista Agut, who would both make their debut at the ATP Finals starting on November 15th. David Goffin, Pablo Carreno Busta and Fabio Fognini only have outsider chances.
