Small disappointment at the ATP World Tour 250 event in Gstaad: tennis fans in the DACH area have been looking forward to an exciting first-round encounter between the Austrian Dennis Novak and the German Yannick Hanfmann. Unfortunately nothing will come of it now. The Munich-by-choice had to withdraw from the main field of the airy clay court tournament due to illness.

So Novak will have to deal with the lucky loser Kacper Zuk from Poland on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. (CEST) in the Roy Emerson Arena. The world ranking list 170. has not yet won a main competition at the ATP Tour level in 2021 and failed in the second qualifying round against local hero Sandro Ehrat.

Also tomorrow two Swiss on duty

Speaking of local heroes: To the disappointment of the home fans, they had no successes on the first main field matchday. While the aforementioned Ehrat drew the short straw against the Australian Marc Polmans with 5: 7, 3: 6, Johan Nikles with a wild card clearly had to admit defeat to the Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva with 2: 6, 1: 6.

Tomorrow the two wild card holders Leandro Riedi and top talent Dominic Stephan Stricker will climb into the clay court ring for the Swiss. The 19-year-old Riedi faces an extremely difficult task with Federico Delbonis. The one year younger knitter challenges the French Arthur Rinderknech.
