ATP Halle: Roger Federer after trembling victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals

Tournament favorite Roger Federer has moved into the quarter-finals of the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Halle / Westphalia. The Swiss defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in three short sentences.

The nine-time champion Roger Federer made it into the round of eight at the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Halle / Westphalia - but had to fight hard as expected. Federer finally prevailed against Jo-Wilfried Tsonag with 7: 6 (5), 4: 6 and 7: 5.

After winning the first set, everything seemed to be heading towards Federers: The 37-year-old Swiss got an early break, but had to accept the Tsongas rebreak in the sixth game. The two opponents had played against each other 17 times before the game in Hall, Federer won eleven of these matches. However, the Frenchman won the last encounter in 2016 in Toronto.

In the decision, Tsonga presented with his own serve, Federer wobbled in the sixth game. The decision was made at 5: 5, when Tsonga sank the second Breakball Federers into the net. Then the favorite served out - with problems. And a lot of luck at the 30:30 stand. Then Federer graduated with an ace.

Roberto Bautista-Agut is waiting in the quarter-finals, who won through against Richard Gasquet in two sets on Thursday afternoon.
