Andrey Rublev made a big comeback in the Hamburg final

Last year, Andrey Rublev had to admit defeat to Nikoloz Basilashvili in the final at Rothenbaum in Hamburg, but in 2020 the Russian entered the list of winners of the traditional tournament. Rublev made a remarkable comeback against Stefanos Tsitsipas and won 6: 4, 3: 6 and 7: 5. It was Rublev's third title this year after Adelaide and Doha.

Rublev got the better start into the match, Tsitsipas was repeatedly on the defensive, especially on his backhand side. As the game continued, the greater variability of Tsitsipas paid off more and more, the reigning ATP world champion managed to equalize the set.

Tsitsipas serves on the tournament victory

The decisive set turned into a battle of nerves: Tsitsipas made an early break, Rublev equalized to 2-2 after several missed chances. Just to give up his serve again. The next comeback came when Tsitsipas hit the tournament win at a score of 5: 4. But Rublev used his second chance to rebreak and didn't look back afterwards. After 2:19 hours of play, the 22-year-old Muscovite was allowed to celebrate.

Both players now have to travel to Paris as quickly as possible. There Stefanos Tsitsipas will meet the Spaniard Jaume Munar in round one of the French Open 2020, Andrey Rublev will face Sam Querrey from the USA.
