The world number four Stefanos Tsitsipas has accepted a wildcard for the Hamburg European Open 2021 (July 6th to 18th) and is serving for the second time in a row in Hamburg! "I'm looking forward to coming back to Hamburg to take the opportunity to gain important match practice before the Olympic Games," said the French Open finalist from Greece, who spoke of coming back to Hamburg as soon as possible last autumn to want. And just a year later he's back! The Hamburg European Open starts on July 6th with the women's tournament, the main field matches of the men's tournament will be held from July 12th to 18th.

In the first half of June, the winner of the 2019 ATP Finals in Roland Garros had contested the first Grand Slam final of his career. In the final, the 22-year-old had already worked out a 2-0 set lead against world number one Novak Djokovic before the Serb turned up and won his 19th Grand Slam title in the end. Tsitsipas has been one of the standout players on clay this season. In April, in his adopted home of Monte Carlo, he celebrated his first Masters title. In the final, he successfully took revenge against Andrey Rublev for his three-set final defeat in Hamburg last year (4: 6, 6: 3, 5: 7).
