Dominic Thiem has at least one good memory of tie-break ten events: In 2016 in Vienna the Lichtenwörther won the short competition in the Wiener Stadthalle, then in the final against Andy Murray. The ATP Tour 500 tournament that followed was not so smooth. Thiem was also in the run-up to the Australian Open in 2018, but at the time he lost to Milos Raonic in the quarter-finals.

On Tuesday (local time) there will also be a tie break tens in Indian Wells. Raonic and Thiem will be there as well as Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka. In addition there is Gael Monfils, a man who already won an ATP Tour 500 tournament in 2019, that in Rotterdam. Local color is provided by Taylor Fritz, and David Goffin will also be at the start.

Tournament director Tommy Haas is looking forward to the spectacle, which operates in Indian Wells as the "Eisenhower Cup". "It will be a very special evening and a great start for this year's tournament," said the German.
