Kohlschreiber only needed 74 minutes to beat Nick Kyrgios 6-4 and 6-4 in stage 2. This court had previously proven to be a real source of German tennis joy: first Angelique Kerber against Yulia Putintseva remained successful, then Mona Barthel against Madison Keys.

In any case, Kohlschreiber blocked all five chances of the winner from Acapulco and, in turn, won the Australian's serve twice. As a reward, Kohlschreiber can now play against tournament favorite Novak Djokovic.

Alexander Zverev had an even shorter working day: The German number one, at 6: 3 and 2: 0, benefited from the task of his opponent Martin Klizan. In the third round, Zverev meets a compatriot: Jan-Lennard Struff.

The Warsteiner took advantage of the hour and won the duel with Lucky Loser Ricardas Berankis with 3: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 2. Maximilian Marterer, on the other hand, was eliminated: the Franconian left-hander defeated Miomir Kecmanovic from Serbia in two sets.
